Describes the environment variables required to run the server.

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
BIND_HOSTNoHost to bind when using the http transport, e.g. 127.0.0.1 (the default) or a private-network address.
TRANSPORTNoTransport for the server. stdio is the right default for a local MCP client; set to http for an always-on service.
ORIGIN_SHARED_SECRETNoA secret of at least 32 characters. Required when using the http transport (TRANSPORT=http); the http transport refuses to start without it. Not required for the default stdio transport.
MUSE_MCP_EXTRA_ALLOWED_HOSTSNoAdditional allowed hostnames, if you front the http transport with a gateway or tunnel of your own.
