Server Configuration

Describes the environment variables required to run the server.

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
FCP_MCP_INDEXNoSet to off to disable the analysis cache. Nothing depends on it; every tool still answers, just slower.
FCP_WATCH_DIRNoDirectory to watch for the operator's manual Cmd-E XML export, so `watch_pull` can detect it and diff it against the last export (alternative to calling `watch_start` once per session).
FCP_MCP_AUTOPUSHNoSet to 1 to push the generated cut into a running Final Cut Pro automatically (zero-click import) instead of calling `deliver.push_to_fcp` explicitly.
FCP_PROJECTS_DIRYesDirectory containing your Final Cut Pro projects / exported FCPXML files (e.g. ~/Movies). Passed to the server as `claude mcp add fcpxml -e FCP_PROJECTS_DIR=~/Movies -- uvx fcp-mcp-server` or as `"env": { "FCP_PROJECTS_DIR": "/Users/you/Movies" }` in the MCP client config.
