Server Configuration
Describes the environment variables required to run the server.
| Name | Required | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|---|
| HOST | No | HTTP bind address. Default: 127.0.0.1; 0.0.0.0 exposes it externally and should only be used with MCP_AUTH_TOKEN. | |
| PORT | No | HTTP listen port (0 = OS-assigned). Default: 3000. | |
| HTTP_PROXY | No | Send all outbound traffic through a proxy. | |
| HTTPS_PROXY | No | Send all outbound traffic through a proxy. | |
| NOTION_TOKEN | Yes | Notion Personal Access Token (ntn_…) or Internal Integration secret. Required for authentication; goes in the same env var either way. | |
| MCP_TRANSPORT | No | Transport mode. Default: `stdio`; set to `http` to run as a Streamable HTTP endpoint. | |
| MCP_AUTH_TOKEN | No | When set, every /mcp request must send `Authorization: Bearer <token>`. | |
| NOTION_PAGE_ID | No | Default parent for create_page / create_database when no `parent` is passed (page URL or id). | |
| NOTION_FILE_URLS | No | Set to `ref` to swap Notion's long signed file URLs for short refs. Default: `full`. | |
| NOTION_READ_ONLY | No | Set to "true" to disable every write operation. | |
| MCP_ALLOWED_HOSTS | No | Comma-separated list for the DNS-rebinding `Host` allowlist. Default: localhost + bound host. | |
| NOTION_RATE_LIMIT | No | Requests per second (Notion's documented limit). Default: 3. | |
| NOTION_UPLOAD_ROOT | No | Confines `upload_file`'s local `path` source to one directory. | |
| MCP_ALLOWED_ORIGINS | No | Comma-separated list for the browser `Origin` allowlist. Default: localhost origins. | |
| NOTION_DAILY_LOG_PAGE_ID | No | Page id used only by the daily-log MCP prompt. | |
| NOTION_ALLOWED_OPERATIONS | No | Allowlist of operations: comma-separated operation names or presets (`read`, `write`, `destructive`) or a family (`pages`, `blocks`, `databases`, `data_sources`, `views`, `comments`, `users`, `files`). | |
| NOTION_BLOCKED_OPERATIONS | No | Blocklist of operations: comma-separated operation names or presets. The blocklist wins over the allowlist. | |
| NOTION_CONFIRM_DESTRUCTIVE | No | Set to "true" to be asked before a destructive operation runs (requires MCP elicitation support in the client). |
