Server Configuration

Describes the environment variables required to run the server.

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
FCP_MCP_INDEXNoSet to off to disable the analysis cache. Nothing depends on it; every tool still answers, only slower.
FCP_WATCH_DIRNoDirectory watched for the operator's Cmd-E export so watch_pull can detect and diff it against the last export. Normally set by running `watch_start` once per session, but can be set as an environment variable instead.
FCP_MCP_AUTOPUSHNoSet to 1 to automatically push the generated FCPXML into the running Final Cut Pro instead of calling deliver.push_to_fcp manually.
FCP_PROJECTS_DIRYesDirectory containing your Final Cut Pro XML projects, e.g. ~/Movies. Passed as the FCP_PROJECTS_DIR environment variable, e.g. `claude mcp add fcpxml -e FCP_PROJECTS_DIR=~/Movies -- uvx fcp-mcp-server`.
