Describes the environment variables required to run the server.

| HANDOFF_MCP_PROJECT_ROOT | No | Explicitly pin the root directory for project scoping. Used when the server's working directory differs from the repository root (set by `handoff-mcp init`). If omitted, the root is derived from Git detection or the launch directory. |
