notify_configure_notifier

Configure Feishu, DingTalk, Bark, or PushPlus notification channels with webhook URLs or tokens, enable alerts, and optionally send a test message to verify delivery.

Instructions

Configure a notification channel.

Args:
channel: Notification channel name. Supported: feishu, dingtalk, bark, pushplus
webhook_url: Webhook URL for webhook-based channels (feishu / dingtalk / bark)
token: PushPlus token (only used when channel="pushplus")
enabled: Whether to enable this channel (default True)
send_test: Whether to immediately send a test message (default False)

Returns:
dict: Current configuration status for all channels, plus test result if requested

TDQS

B3.4/5.0
Behavior3/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

No annotations exist, so the description carries the full burden. It does add real behavior: send_test sends a message immediately, defaults for enabled/send_test, and that the return value is config status for ALL channels plus the test result. But it never states whether re-configuring overwrites prior settings, whether credentials are required, or whether changes persist across sessions.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loaded one-line purpose followed by a tight Args block and a Returns line; every entry maps to a real parameter. The Google-style docstring formatting is slightly boilerplate-heavy for five fields but nothing is wasted.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a 5-parameter mutation tool with no annotations and no output schema, the description covers all parameters and describes the return shape itself. The remaining gap is mutation semantics (overwrite vs. merge, persistence), which leaves it just short of complete.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 0%, so the description must compensate and largely does: it enumerates supported channel values (feishu, dingtalk, bark, pushplus), scopes webhook_url to webhook-based channels and token to pushplus only, and gives defaults for enabled and send_test. It does not say what happens with an unsupported channel value.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb+resource: 'Configure a notification channel.' An agent can tell it apart from the sibling notify_get_notifier_config (read side) by the verb alone. It does not name the sibling explicitly, so it stops short of 5.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines2/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

There is no when-to-use / when-not-to guidance: nothing says whether configuring overwrites an existing channel, whether notify_get_notifier_config should be called first, or which channel to pick. Usage is only implied by the verb 'Configure'.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
