Server Configuration

Describes the environment variables required to run the server.

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
HOUTINI_LM_MODELNoPin the model to use, e.g. gpt-5.2. Useful when the endpoint lists many models that all score the same in routing.
HOUTINI_LM_API_KEYNoAPI key for the endpoint, if the endpoint needs one.
HOUTINI_LM_THINKINGNoThinking mode: 'auto' (default) switches thinking off for models that support the toggle, 'off' forces thinking off on every call, 'on' forces thinking on.
HOUTINI_LM_SERIALISENoCalls are queued one at a time by default. Set to 0 to turn off serialisation for OpenAI, a router, or a batching backend like vLLM.
HOUTINI_LM_MIN_TOKENSNoMinimum output token floor. Anything under 4,096 is ignored by default; set HOUTINI_LM_MIN_TOKENS=0 to disable the floor.
HOUTINI_LM_STRUCTUREDNoSet to 1 and each inference result also carries a structuredContent block (the answer, model, tokens, timing, quality flags) to read as JSON. Leave off for Claude Code.
HOUTINI_LM_ENDPOINT_URLNoThe URL of the OpenAI-compatible endpoint, e.g. http://192.168.1.50:1234 or https://api.openai.com. Defaults to LM Studio's localhost:1234.
