DoorSense: Alexa+ caregiving companion

Ask Alexa "Is Mom okay?" and get a real answer from her front door. Built for the Amazon Developer Hackathon 2026 (Alexa+ track, Open Source mini challenge).

Features

  • Simulated Alexa+ voice chat (AI-powered)

  • Wellness score and alerts: no activity for 18h or more, 3 or more unknown visitors in 24h, a package left out for 6h or more

  • "Ask about visits": findings plus a suggested next step

  • MCP server (Streamable HTTP, spec 2025-11-25) with tools:

    • check_on_resident: score, hours since last activity, alerts

    • get_recent_events: front-door events in the last N hours

    • notify_family: demo check-in message to family (simulated)

Run locally

Requires Bun (or Node 20+):

bun install
bun run dev

Then open http://localhost:8080. Run the tests with bunx vitest run.
