Why I made this / 왜 만들었는가

English: I needed time-awareness in my own Claude workflow. Claude doesn't know the current date or time by default — it guesses or refuses. So I built this for myself. Anthropic will probably ship this natively at some point; when they do, this becomes obsolete and that's fine.

What it does / 기능

One tool: get_current_time(timezone?)

• Returns ISO 8601 timestamp, human-readable time, weekday, unix milliseconds

• Timezone resolution: argument → URL param ?tz= → Cloudflare geolocation → UTC

• ISO 8601 타임스탬프, 사람이 읽을 수 있는 시간, 요일, unix 밀리초를 반환합니다.

_timezone_source indicates where the timezone came from: argument, url_param, cloudflare_geo, or fallback.

Doesn't work / 작동하지 않는 환경

• Users who disabled location in Claude privacy settings Claude 개인정보 설정에서 위치 정보를 비활성화한 사용자

• VPN users (gets the VPN exit node's timezone) VPN 사용자 (VPN 출구 노드의 시간대가 반환됨)

• Direct Anthropic API users (no system prompt with location) Anthropic API 직접 사용자 (위치 정보가 포함된 시스템 프롬프트 없음)

• Other MCP clients (Cursor, Zed, etc. — depends on the client) 기타 MCP 클라이언트 (Cursor, Zed 등 — 클라이언트에 따라 다름)

These are mostly technical users. If that's you, just pass the timezone argument explicitly, set the URL param, fork the repo, or self-host. You can solve it.

Why MCP alone can't perfectly handle "world support" / MCP만으로 "전 세계 지원"을 완벽하게 처리할 수 없는 이유

Documenting this because it took a while to figure out:

이 내용을 기록하는 이유는 파악하는 데 시간이 좀 걸렸기 때문입니다:

1. MCP protocol has no way to convey user locale to the server. Confirmed in the official spec. MCP 프로토콜 사양에는 사용자 로케일을 서버에 전달하는 방법이 없습니다 (공식 사양 확인됨).

2. For remote MCP servers, the request comes from the AI provider's datacenter, not the user. Verified: Claude calls reach this server from Anthropic, PBC in Virginia, not from the user's actual location. 원격 MCP 서버의 경우, 요청은 사용자가 아닌 AI 제공업체의 데이터 센터에서 옵니다. 확인 결과: Claude가 이 서버를 호출할 때 Cloudflare에서 보이는 발신지는 사용자의 실제 위치가 아닌 버지니아의 Anthropic, PBC입니다.

3. The AI must read user location from its system prompt and pass it as an argument. This is the only viable path, and it depends on the AI's judgment — not 100% reliable. AI가 시스템 프롬프트에서 사용자 위치를 읽어 인수로 전달해야 합니다. 이것이 유일한 실행 가능한 경로이며, AI의 판단에 의존하므로 100% 신뢰할 수는 없습니다.

This is a structural limitation of MCP, not a bug. 이는 MCP의 구조적 한계이며 버그가 아닙니다.

Self-host / 직접 호스팅

Customize / 사용자 지정

Edit src/index.ts:

• tools[0].description — how Claude perceives the tool

• instructions (in the initialize handler) — operating rules sent to Claude

• resolveTimezone() — fallback behavior

src/index.ts를 수정하세요:

• tools[0].description — Claude가 도구를 인식하는 방식

• instructions (initialize 핸들러 내) — Claude에게 전달되는 운영 규칙

• resolveTimezone() — 대체 동작

Then npm run deploy.

그 후 npm run deploy를 실행하세요.
