Server Configuration
Describes the environment variables required to run the server.
| Name | Required | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|---|
| AUTH_TOKEN | No | A pre-existing Microsoft Graph access token (JWT for https://graph.microsoft.com) to use instead of MSAL login. When provided, the server skips the interactive authentication flow. | |
| TEAMS_MCP_SCOPES | No | Override the permission scopes requested during authentication (comma or space separated), e.g. "User.Read Chat.ReadWrite". | |
| TEAMS_MCP_CLIENT_ID | No | Your own Azure AD app registration client ID (GUID), used to authenticate instead of the default Microsoft Graph CLI app. Set the same value on the MCP server process so it can renew tokens with the same app identity. | |
| TEAMS_MCP_READ_ONLY | No | Set to true to start the MCP server in read-only mode, disabling all write operations (sending messages, creating chats, uploading files, editing/deleting messages) and requesting only read-permission scopes from Microsoft Graph. | |
| TEAMS_MCP_TENANT_ID | No | Pins the authority to a specific tenant (GUID or domain, e.g. contoso.onmicrosoft.com); required for single-tenant app registrations. |
