# Impreza Host for VS Code

Deploy apps and operate your servers, VPSes, domains/DNS, backups and account
balance on **[Impreza Host](https://imprezahost.com)** — privacy-first, no-KYC,
offshore/DMCA-resistant hosting paid in **Bitcoin / Monero** — straight from
**GitHub Copilot** or **Claude** in VS Code, via the Model Context Protocol (MCP).

> **Impreza Host** is the hosting provider (imprezahost.com). This is **not** the
> “Impreza” WordPress theme, and is unrelated to the Subaru Impreza.

## What it does

Once installed, the extension contributes the Impreza Host MCP server to VS
Code's MCP list. Enable it and your AI can act on your own Impreza account:

- **Deploy and operate apps** — catalog apps (WordPress, Nextcloud, Gitea, n8n,
  Vaultwarden, …) or your own code as a Docker image, Dockerfile, Compose stack
  or git URL. Inspect an upload before it runs, redeploy, roll back to an
  earlier release, read logs, run the app's own CLI (`wp`, `occ`, a database
  dump) and read files out of a running app — all without a shell on the box.
- **Backups** — on demand or on a daily schedule, into **your own S3**, plus
  restore into a *different* app, which is how an app moves between servers.
- **Scheduled tasks** — a timer on an app, with the output kept.
- **Webhooks** — subscribe to deploy, backup and VPS events instead of polling.
- **VPS, Cloud VPS and dedicated servers** — power, status, reinstall, rescue,
  resize, snapshots, backup schedules, rDNS, IPs, KVM console, firewall.
- **Domains and DNS** — register, transfer, lock, ID protection, nameservers,
  full record CRUD, and attaching a **`.onion`** to an app.
- **Billing in crypto** — catalogue, ordering, invoices, and topping up the
  balance in Bitcoin or Monero.

**The tool list adapts to what you own.** Roughly a third of the ~124 tools only
make sense with the machine behind them — VPS power controls with no VPS can
only ever answer “not found” — so the server leaves those out of the listing
until your account has one, and your AI doesn't spend context on them before you
ask anything. The purchase path is never filtered (an account that owns nothing
is the one that needs to buy something), and buying something grows the list
mid-session without reconnecting.

## Two ways to connect

Both appear under **MCP: List Servers**:

- **Impreza Host (OAuth)** — the hosted connector. No install, no API key:
  authorize in your browser (OAuth 2.1) and go. **Recommended.**
- **Impreza Host (local, API key)** — runs `npx impreza-mcp` locally. Run the
  command **“Impreza: Set API key + secret”** and paste your Impreza API key +
  secret (clientarea → Impreza API); they are stored in VS Code SecretStorage,
  never in settings. This path is the one that can **upload the folder you have
  open** and deploy it, so it runs with your workspace as its working directory.

## Usage

Open Copilot Chat in **Agent** mode, make sure the Impreza server is enabled
(the MCP tools icon), then talk naturally:

> “List my Impreza servers, then deploy this project and give me the URL.”
>
> “Add an A record for app.example.com pointing at my VPS.”
>
> “Back this app up to my S3 bucket and schedule it daily.”
>
> “Top up my balance with \$20 in Monero.”

No account yet? An agent can create one with **no e-mail and no KYC** in a
single call — connect with no token and ask it to bootstrap an account.

## Security

The OAuth path issues a **scoped, revocable** token (no API secret ever leaves
Impreza), and you pick what the assistant may do — read, deploy or manage — on
the consent screen. The local path keeps your key/secret in VS Code
SecretStorage and sends them only as request headers over HTTPS. Full policy:
