Describes the environment variables required to run the server.

| ENGRAM_APPROVAL | No | Approval policy for AI writes. Set to 'strict' to gate every write for review; otherwise low/medium writes may be auto-absorbed under the configured policy. | |
| ENGRAM_NO_UPDATE_CHECK | No | Set to '1' to disable the once-daily PyPI newer-version check performed by the engram command. |
