Server Configuration
Describes the environment variables required to run the server.
| Name | Required | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|---|
| PORT | No | Port for npm run web (imap-setup uses --port). Default is 3000. | 3000 |
| IMAP_MCP_BIND | No | Address the setup wizard binds to (--host takes precedence). Default is 127.0.0.1. | 127.0.0.1 |
| IMAP_MCP_READ_ONLY | No | When truthy (1, true, yes, on), only the safe, read-only tools are registered — searching, reading, listing folders, unread counts, spam analysis. No tool that sends mail, deletes/moves messages, changes flags, or edits accounts is exposed. | false |
| IMAP_MCP_WIZARD_TOKEN | No | Access token when bound beyond loopback (at least 16 characters). Default is random per start; when set to a fixed token it is not printed. | |
| IMAP_MCP_ENABLED_TOOLS | No | Comma-separated allowlist of tool names — only these are registered. Names are case-insensitive and the imap_ prefix is optional (search_emails ≡ imap_search_emails). When set, it takes precedence over IMAP_MCP_READ_ONLY. |
