Server Configuration
Describes the environment variables required to run the server.
| Name | Required | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|---|
| MYSQL_HOST | No | MySQL host for single-connection mode (no config file, MySQL only). | |
| MYSQL_PORT | No | MySQL port for single-connection mode (no config file, MySQL only). | |
| MYSQL_USER | No | MySQL user for single-connection mode (no config file, MySQL only). | |
| MYSQL_CONFIG | No | Alias for SQL_MCP_CONFIG: path to the profiles JSON file. | |
| MYSQL_DATABASE | No | MySQL database for single-connection mode (no config file, MySQL only). | |
| MYSQL_PASSWORD | No | MySQL password for single-connection mode (no config file, MySQL only). | |
| SQL_MCP_CONFIG | No | Path to the profiles JSON file defining one or more named database connections. The file is re-read when it changes, so edits apply without a restart. (`MYSQL_CONFIG` also works.) | |
| MYSQL_CACHE_TTL | No | Alias for SQL_MCP_CACHE_TTL: schema-metadata cache lifetime in seconds. | |
| MYSQL_LOG_QUERIES | No | Alias for SQL_MCP_LOG_QUERIES: set to `1` to log SQL text to stderr. | |
| SQL_MCP_AUDIT_LOG | No | File path to append one JSON line per tool call (off by default; file created with mode 0600). | |
| SQL_MCP_CACHE_TTL | No | Schema-metadata cache lifetime in seconds (default 60, `0` = off). `MYSQL_CACHE_TTL` also works. | |
| SQL_MCP_LOG_QUERIES | No | Set to `1` to log SQL text to stderr (off by default). `MYSQL_LOG_QUERIES` also works. | |
| SQL_MCP_AUDIT_LITERALS | No | Set to `1` to include literal values in the audit log (off by default — values are never written otherwise). |
