GroupDocs.Merger MCP Server
Enables GitHub Copilot to merge, split, and inspect documents via GroupDocs.Merger tools.
Click on "Install Server".
Wait a few minutes for the server to deploy. Once ready, it will show a "Started" state.
In the chat, type
@followed by the MCP server name and your instructions, e.g., "@GroupDocs.Merger MCP Servermerge report1.pdf and report2.pdf into a single PDF"

GroupDocs.Merger MCP Server
MCP server that exposes GroupDocs.Merger as AI-callable tools for Claude, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, and other MCP agents.
Installation
One-click installs pre-fill every supported setting: edit the placeholder documents folder after install (output defaults to the same folder); an empty GROUPDOCS_LICENSE_PATH runs in evaluation mode - point it at your license to lift limits.

Requires .NET 10 SDK.

Native prerequisites
The underlying GroupDocs engine uses System.Drawing (GDI+) for some
operations. When you run the server natively (via dnx or the global
dotnet tool) on Linux or macOS, install the native libgdiplus library first:

Skipping this on Linux/macOS surfaces as DllNotFoundException: libgdiplus in
the tool response. The simplest zero-setup option on Linux/macOS is the
Docker image.
Available MCP Tools
Tool | Description |

| Splits a document by extracting specific pages, saving each as an individual file |
| Returns the file type, page count, size, and per-page dimensions of a document as JSON (without modifying it) |
All tools support PDF, DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, and 30+ more document, image, and archive formats.
Example prompts for AI agents
Copy any of these into Claude Desktop, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot Chat after the server is connected.
Merge documents: "Merge intro.docx and appendix.docx into one file."
Combine PDFs: "Combine report-q1.pdf, report-q2.pdf, and report-q3.pdf into a single PDF."
Split out pages: "Split pages 3, 7, and 9 out of contract.pdf into separate files."
Inspect before merging: "How many pages does presentation.pptx have?"
Extract a page range: "Pull pages 1 through 5 of manual.docx into their own documents."
Licensing
The MCP server itself is MIT; the underlying GroupDocs.Merger engine requires a license for production use. Without one the server runs in evaluation mode:
Processed output may carry evaluation watermarks.
A single server process can open at most 15 documents; further calls fail with an evaluation-cap error until the server restarts.
To lift the limits, point GROUPDOCS_LICENSE_PATH at your GroupDocs.Total.lic:

NuGet.org generates a ready-to-use mcp.json snippet on the package page.
