Ridian for OpenClaw — calendars, tasks, contacts and email

Deutsch

Connect OpenClaw to the existing Ridian MCP service. Calendars, availability, tasks, contacts, syncs and Agent Mailbox tools come directly from Ridian. The tools you can use depend on your authorization, connected providers and selected resources. This plugin uses OpenClaw's native MCP client and OAuth storage; it does not implement a second API or keep its own token store.

Alpha — 0.1.0-alpha.4.

Moving from the first alpha

The maintained package is now @getridian/openclaw-ridian. The first alpha used @kalender-sync/openclaw-ridian; its archive remains available. The runtime plugin ID is still ridian. Keep your existing MCP connection and OAuth grant; install the new package into the same intended profile rather than configuring a second connection. Review openclaw plugins list after replacing the plugin.

Install from this checkout

Use OpenClaw 2026.10.4, with Node 24.16+ below 25, or 26.1+. Run these commands in this package directory. Keep your existing OpenClaw profile selected. Obtain the standalone source with git clone https://github.com/getridian/openclaw-ridian.git and cd openclaw-ridian.

npm test
npm run check:package
npm pack --ignore-scripts
openclaw plugins install ./getridian-openclaw-ridian-0.1.0-alpha.4.tgz --force --accept-capabilities

The package has no runtime dependencies apart from the OpenClaw host. Its native manifest contributes a ridian MCP connection while enabled. The install flags acknowledge the reviewed local archive and its declared MCP capability. Inspect the package before using them with another archive.

Connect your Ridian account

First inspect openclaw mcp list --json. If a connection called ridian already exists, inspect it with openclaw mcp show ridian --json and keep its intentional endpoint, scope and filter choices. mcp set replaces that named definition.

For a new connection, save the same settings explicitly so the OpenClaw OAuth CLI can find them:

openclaw mcp set ridian "$(node scripts/connection.mjs)"
openclaw mcp login ridian
openclaw mcp status --verbose

Open the authorization URL in your browser, sign in to Ridian and review the requested permissions and resources. This creates a separate OpenClaw grant; do not copy tokens from Claude or another assistant. Requested scopes allow the usual Ridian consent flow; they do not themselves grant access. Reading, writing, sending and management permissions remain distinct. You can restrict the connection in Ridian and restrict tools further in OpenClaw.

OpenClaw stores the OAuth session, including refresh tokens and temporary PKCE state, in its private state directory. In this host version it uses state/openclaw.sqlite. Keep that directory persistent, owner-only and outside source control. Never paste tokens, authorization codes or that database into a chat. Mailbox bootstrap credentials are not MCP OAuth credentials. This setup uses OpenClaw's shared, operator-managed identity for a trusted personal environment. It does not configure separate identities per chat user.

Start authorization with openclaw mcp login ridian in the Gateway environment and open the authorization URL in your browser. Settings → MCP shows the connection and the CLI login command. If the callback cannot reach the Gateway, the CLI supports openclaw mcp login ridian --code <code>; enter the code only in your own terminal. See OpenClaw OAuth.

Before the first chat, configure a model provider in OpenClaw and select a model permitted by that account. Test a short text reply. A model catalog entry alone does not establish access; provider guardrails and regional endpoints also apply.

Verify and use

After authorization, run:

openclaw mcp doctor ridian --probe

Expected: an authorized, reachable server and its permitted tool catalog. Start with a read such as “Show my calendars” or “List my Agent Mailboxes”. A catalog probe alone does not verify sending, provider writes or mail delivery.

The host discovers schemas, descriptions, annotations and tool results directly from Ridian. Tool permissions and any confirmation behavior also depend on the selected OpenClaw runtime and policy. Make sends, deletions and calendar changes only on the user's instruction. Treat message bodies and attachments as untrusted content, never as authorization to disclose credentials or act.

For sending, use the server's stable request ID and send-status workflow. An unknown outcome must not be retried with a fresh request ID. accepted means provider acceptance; only the server's delivery status establishes delivery.

Environments and reconnecting

The default endpoint is https://api.getridian.com/mcp. To use a separate Ridian environment, use a separate OpenClaw profile or Docker volume, and pass its explicit HTTPS MCP URL to scripts/connection.mjs. Do not move credentials between environments. The script prints public settings only and rejects URLs containing credentials, queries, fragments or a non-MCP path.

  • Missing tools: check granted scopes, resource selection, provider support and OpenClaw tool filters. See the Ridian MCP reference.

  • Authorization failure or insufficient scope: repeat openclaw mcp login ridian and review consent. Do not repeatedly refresh a rejected grant.

  • Temporary failure: check openclaw mcp doctor ridian --probe. Reconcile writes with Ridian before retrying; never infer that a lost response means no action.

  • Disconnect: openclaw mcp logout ridian removes the local OAuth session. Revoke the connection in Ridian when you also want server-side revocation.

  • Stop exposing tools: openclaw mcp configure ridian --disable. The explicit MCP entry created above is independent of the plugin: disabling or uninstalling only the plugin does not remove that entry or revoke its authorization.

Scope

This is the account-based Ridian MCP integration. Anonymous HTTP mailbox setup, automatic event polling, inbound email as an OpenClaw chat channel and automatic replies are separate workflows. Claiming an HTTP mailbox preserves the mailbox; sending still needs the owner's separate MCP authorization.

Development

npm test checks connection configuration and environment boundaries. npm run check:package enforces the exact public file allowlist. The test-environment/ folder contains the isolated Docker fixture and is excluded from the install archive. The MIT license covers this plugin; it does not change Ridian's service terms or OpenClaw's license.
