Server Configuration
Describes the environment variables required to run the server.
| Name | Required | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|---|
| DO_NOT_TRACK | No | Set to '1' to turn off the anonymous daily usage ping. | |
| ENGRAM_TOOLS | No | Set to 'all' to opt in to the 40 Advanced MCP tools in addition to the 19 Core tools loaded by default. | |
| ENGRAM_SEARCH | No | Set to 'hybrid' to opt in to hybrid retrieval using FTS5 full-text plus a semantic vector layer. | |
| ENGRAM_APPROVAL | No | Set to 'strict' to gate every write. High-risk items such as credentials, shell commands, MCP config, and permission rules wait for user review; low/medium writes are auto-absorbed but auditable and reversible. | |
| ENGRAM_NO_UPDATE_CHECK | No | Set to '1' to turn off the daily PyPI update check performed by the engram command and engram doctor. |
