Server Configuration
Describes the environment variables required to run the server.
| Name | Required | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|---|
| MCP_DATA_DIR | No | The allowed root folder for the filesystem tools. To change the root from the start: `MCP_DATA_DIR=/other/path npm start` (or `set MCP_DATA_DIR=D:\work` then `npm start` on Windows cmd). The default is your home directory. | $HOME |
| PUBLIC_ORIGIN | No | Optional. Only needed if you need PUBLIC_ORIGIN or another non-default var, set it in a `.env` file (`cp .env.example .env`). | |
| GROK_CALLBACK_PREFIX | No | Allowlists Grok's OAuth redirect_uri callback prefix (its real redirect_uri `https://grok.com/connectors-oauth-exchange-code/` is allowlisted via GROK_CALLBACK_PREFIX). If a future Grok change moves that callback, a rejected registration logs `register REJECTED (redirect_uri not allowlisted): [...]` so the new value can be re-allowlisted. |
