Describes the environment variables required to run the server.

If unset, the server defaults to `catalog.db` next to `mcp_server.py` (i.e. this repo), which is correct for Claude Code (registered from the repo root above) but worth setting explicitly for Claude Desktop or any client that may launch the process from an unrelated working directory. | |
| CATALOG_USER | No | The email address whose catalog the server accesses. If unset, the server assumes a single-user deployment and uses the sole user in the database. If multiple users are stored and `CATALOG_USER` is not set, the affected tool calls return `{"error": "multiple users; set CATALOG_USER"}` — the server process itself keeps running either way, since each tool call resolves the user independently. |
