HomePilot Assist
HomePilot Assist is a safety-first home technology support experience built for the Alexa+ track of the 2026 Amazon Developer Hackathon. It combines a web-based voice-agent simulation with a real Model Context Protocol server.
Why it exists
Many everyday home-tech failures are easy to fix but stressful to diagnose, especially for older adults, disabled users, and people who are not comfortable with technical language. HomePilot turns a vague problem into a short sequence of reversible checks and creates a clear boundary before destructive, paid, credential-sensitive, or remote-access actions.

Hackathon technology
MCP SDK:
@modelcontextprotocol/sdk1.30.0MCP protocol: 2025-11-25
Transport: Streamable HTTP at
POST /mcpWeb simulation: accessible browser UI at
/Cost: no paid API, cloud, model, or device is required for the demo
The MCP server is imported and executed at runtime in src/server.js. The browser simulator calls the MCP endpoint through the official MCP client at runtime, so the end-user demo exercises the same protocol integration shown to judges. It exposes diagnose_home_tech, check_action_safety, and create_support_plan.
Run
npm install
npm startOpen http://127.0.0.1:3777.
Health check:
curl http://127.0.0.1:3777/healthTest
npm testDemo flow
Enter or speak: “My printer says offline and I need to print a letter.”
HomePilot creates a safe, accessible sequence of checks.
Try a risky action such as “factory reset the computer” through the MCP safety tool; HomePilot stops and requires human confirmation.
Show
/healthand an MCP client call to demonstrate protocol 2025-11-25 / Streamable HTTP.
Safety and privacy
The prototype does not collect credentials, payment data, or personal files. It does not authorize factory resets, destructive deletion, purchases, password sharing, or remote access. It is a troubleshooting assistant, not a substitute for a qualified technician when hardware repair, account recovery, electrical work, or data recovery is required.
