| DATABASE_URL | No | Database connection URL for the mcp-db component (used for local postgres migrations/seeding). A default value is provided in the sample.env. | |
| CENSUS_API_KEY | Yes | A valid Census Bureau Data API key. Required to run the MCP server; it is passed to the MCP server via the mcp-connect script. |
