Server Configuration
Describes the environment variables required to run the server.
| Name | Required | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|---|
| MODE | No | Server mode: `read` (default), `draft` (recommended) or `send`. Controls whether Claude can only read mail, also create drafts, or also send drafts. | read |
| PUBLIC_URL | No | Public URL of the server, e.g. http://localhost:3000 when running locally. | |
| TOKEN_SECRET | Yes | Secret used to sign OAuth tokens (HKDF-derived key per token type). No database is used; rotate the secret to log everything out instantly. | |
| SEND_ALLOWLIST | No | Optional allowlist of recipients honored by `send_draft` (which also enforces an hourly cap and always sends from your own address). | |
| EXTRA_REDIRECT_URIS | No | Additional allowed OAuth redirect URIs, e.g. `http://localhost:*` when testing with the MCP Inspector. | |
| SMTP_ALLOW_PLAINTEXT | No | Explicit opt-in, off by default and logged at startup: allows outgoing mail to be sent unencrypted. | false |
| TLS_ALLOW_INVALID_CERT | No | Explicit opt-in, off by default and logged at startup: still encrypts the connection to the mail host but does not verify the certificate. For providers with broken mail security. | false |
