LiveDataLink is a hosted MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that gives AI agents access to government, regulatory, market, compliance, healthcare, and risk data through a single Streamable HTTP endpoint. Freshness varies by source; see the [source catalog](https://livedatalink.ai/data) and [trust information](https://livedatalink.ai/trust). Free tier available with no credit card.

## Install

### Install as a Codex plugin from GitHub

The public repository is also a Codex plugin marketplace. Install the focused, read-only LiveDataLink plugin with:

Start a new Codex task after installation. The plugin uses `https://livedatalink.ai/mcp/openai`, a curated 36-tool surface for public-record business and counterparty research. A limited anonymous evaluation is available, so installation does not require a key.

Use a client that supports Streamable HTTP and custom bearer headers, such as Claude Code or Cursor. Client configuration formats differ; see [client examples](CLIENTS.md). ### Connect the catalog you need

The base endpoint loads the complete catalog: 377 tools across 81 domains. For an interactive client with a smaller tool limit, use `?groups=` to load only the relevant groups. For example, `https://livedatalink.ai/mcp?groups=finance,courts` loads finance and courts tools; call `list_tool_groups` to see available groups.

`search_available_datasets` and `list_tool_groups` are always available, do not consume credits, and help an agent discover which group to add.

Verified September 8, 2026: the full endpoint returns 377 tools; `?groups=finance,courts` returns 45. Groups are category names, not individual source names. Unknown groups are ignored; use `list_tool_groups` to choose valid names. The retired `?profile=starter` shortcut is not a supported filter.
### Docker / stdio bridge

LiveDataLink is hosted, so there is no server process to build from this repo. For clients or sandboxes that require a stdio command rather than a URL, the repo ships a `Dockerfile` that bridges stdio to the hosted endpoint via `mcp-remote`:

Both use the full endpoint by default. Point `LIVEDATALINK_ENDPOINT` at a `?groups=` URL when you want a smaller, task-specific catalog. `tools/list` works without a key, so discovery and introspection do not require credentials.

### CLI installer

The repo ships a cross-platform installer that detects your installed clients and writes the config for you:

Idempotent — re-running is safe. `--remove` undoes it, `--print` previews without touching any files.
