Server Configuration
Describes the environment variables required to run the server.

| ALLOWED_HOSTS | No | Comma-separated list of allowed hostnames for the HTTP server. Required when running the server in HTTP mode. | |
| OBSIDIAN_MCP_TOKEN | No | Bearer token for HTTP authentication. Required when running the server in HTTP mode. | |
| OBSIDIAN_VAULT_PATH | No | Path to the Obsidian vault on disk. | |
| OBSIDIAN_MCP_READONLY | No | Set to 1 or true to run the server in read-only mode. Default is read-only. Set to 0 or false to enable writing. | |
| OBSIDIAN_MCP_WRITE_PATHS | No | Comma-separated list of folders where writes are allowed. If not set, writes are allowed in any folder (except hidden folders and CLAUDE.md/AGENTS.md). |
