runpod_use_local

Reroute rendering from a remote RunPod GPU back to the local machine. Use this after pod-based workflows to render locally again while the pod remains active.

Instructions

Switch comfyui-mcp back to the LOCAL ComfyUI on this machine (the 'Local' half of the local⇄pod switch) — retargets rendering to loopback so generate/workflows run on the local GPU again. Stops broadcasting the pod's status but does NOT stop the pod itself (use runpod_pod_stop to end billing). Use when the user wants to render locally again after working on a pod.

Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

No annotations provided, but description fully discloses behavior: retargets rendering to loopback, stops broadcasting pod status, and explicitly clarifies it does not stop the pod. No contradictions.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Two sentences, front-loaded with action and resource, no wasted words. Every sentence adds value.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

Given zero parameters and no output schema, the description fully covers the tool's purpose, behavior, and usage scenario. It explicitly relates to the local↔pod switch context.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

No parameters exist; schema coverage is 100%. Description adds no param info, which is appropriate as there are none. Baseline 4 applies.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

Description clearly states the action (switch to local ComfyUI) and the resource (comfyui-mcp). It distinctively frames the tool as part of a local↔pod switch, differentiating from sibling tools like runpod_pod_stop.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Explicitly states when to use: 'when the user wants to render locally again after working on a pod.' Also warns what it does not do (stop the pod). Minor omission of explicit 'do not use when' scenarios, but the context is clear.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
