# Simple MCP Server

A basic Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for testing MCP functionality.

## Features

This server provides three simple tools:

1. **echo** - Echoes back any text you provide
2. **greet** - Generates a greeting message with your name
3. **calculate** - Performs basic arithmetic operations (add, subtract, multiply, divide)

## Setup

1. Install dependencies:
   ```bash
   npm install
   ```

2. Run the server:
   ```bash
   npm start
   ```

## Testing with Claude Desktop

To test this MCP server with Claude Desktop, add the following to your Claude Desktop configuration:

### macOS Configuration
Add to `~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json`:

## Usage Examples

Once connected, you can test the tools:

- **Echo**: "Use the echo tool to repeat 'Hello World'"
- **Greet**: "Use the greet tool with the name 'Alice'"
- **Calculate**: "Use the calculate tool to add 5 and 3"

## Troubleshooting

- Make sure Node.js is installed
- Ensure the path in your Claude Desktop config is correct
- Restart Claude Desktop after updating the configuration
