| RAG_RERANK | No | Set to off to disable reranking; confidence becomes unknown. | on |
| RAG_BACKEND | No | Backend to use: memory for the built-in JSON sample corpus, or sqlite for rag.db. | memory |
| RAG_DB_PATH | No | Path to the sqlite index. | |
| RAG_ENV_FILE | No | Path to a scenario-specific env profile, e.g. config/tcm.env. Loaded after the root .env and before real environment variables. | |
| RAG_DATA_PATH | No | Path to the JSON corpus for the memory backend. Defaults to the built-in sample corpus. | |
| RAG_MAX_TOP_K | No | Maximum number of results returned. | 20 |
| BAILIAN_API_KEY | No | Alternative API key accepted for embeddings. | |
| RAG_DENSE_FLOOR | No | Dense retrieval floor threshold. Calibrate against the corpus and models rather than tuning manually. | |
| RAG_PRINCIPAL_ID | No | Caller identity. Identity comes from the process environment, not tool parameters. | local-dev |
| RAG_RERANK_MODEL | No | Rerank model name. | |
| DASHSCOPE_API_KEY | No | Alternative API key accepted for embeddings. | |
| RAG_DEFAULT_TOP_K | No | Default number of results returned. | 8 |
| RAG_REGISTRY_PATH | No | Path to the filterable-field registry snapshot. Defaults to the built-in registry. | |
| RAG_SNIPPET_CHARS | No | Maximum snippet length in characters. | 300 |
| RAG_CONFIDENCE_HIGH | No | High-confidence threshold. Calibrate against the corpus and models rather than tuning manually. | |
| RAG_EMBEDDING_MODEL | No | Embedding model name. | |
| RAG_MAX_FETCH_CHARS | No | Maximum fetched text length in characters. | 4000 |
| RAG_MAX_QUERY_CHARS | No | Maximum query length in characters. | 2000 |
| RAG_RELEVANCE_FLOOR | No | Relevance floor threshold. Calibrate against the corpus and models rather than tuning manually. | |
| RAG_RERANK_BASE_URL | No | Rerank endpoint. If omitted, local heuristic reranking is used. | |
| RAG_RERANK_PROVIDER | No | Rerank provider: openai, dashscope, or heuristic. | openai |
| RAG_PRINCIPAL_GROUPS | No | Comma-separated visible groups for the caller. | all |
| RAG_CONFIDENCE_MEDIUM | No | Medium-confidence threshold. Calibrate against the corpus and models rather than tuning manually. | |
| RAG_EMBEDDING_API_KEY | No | API key for the embedding endpoint. DASHSCOPE_API_KEY and BAILIAN_API_KEY are also recognized. | |
| RAG_EMBEDDING_BASE_URL | No | OpenAI-compatible embedding endpoint. | |
| RAG_PRINCIPAL_MAX_LEVEL | No | Maximum visible permission level: public, internal, or confidential. | internal |
Instructions
Guidance the server publishes about itself, which clients place ahead of the tool catalog so the model reads it before choosing anything.
不确定有哪些库、能按什么过滤 → list_sources(一次即可,不要重复调用)
片段不足以判断 → fetch(chunk_id),拿到上下文再回答

| Name | Description |
|---|---|
返回里的 capabilities.retrieval_mode 说明本次检索是否具备语义能力:
|
truncated=true 表示被字数上限截断。 |

TDQS
Scored across 3 tools
Each tool occupies a distinct stage of the retrieval workflow: list_sources for discovery, search for candidate chunks, fetch for full context. The descriptions explicitly state 'when to use' and 'when not to use' for every tool, including the boundary case of 'search is enough to confirm existence, use fetch for content'. No two tools can be reasonably confused.
All three names are lowercase snake_case verbs, which is readable and conventional. Minor deviation: list_sources follows verb_noun while search and fetch are bare verbs, but they are standard terms for this domain and no mixing of styles (camelCase, capitalization) occurs.
Three tools is exactly right for a read-only retrieval server: one for capability/filter discovery, one for search, one for expansion. Each tool has a clear, non-redundant role and nothing feels padded or missing at the surface level.
The read-only lifecycle (discover sources → search → fetch full text by doc_id or window) is fully closed, with guidance on empty results and truncation. A minor gap remains: there is no way to browse or enumerate documents within a source, so an agent cannot list what exists without first searching.
