# TheSkillVault MCP

**TheSkillVault** ([theskillvault.ai](https://theskillvault.ai)) is a library of Agent Skills (`SKILL.md` folders) and prompts for vibe coding. This repo holds the listing files for its **public, read-only remote MCP server**:

```
https://theskillvault.ai/mcp
```

- Transport: Streamable HTTP
- Auth: none (public data, read-only)
- Also exposes every skill as a `skill://<name>` resource (text/markdown) and as prompts

> This repository contains only listing and config files. The server code is proprietary and private; see [LICENSE](LICENSE).

## Tools

| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
| `search_skills` | Search the library for skills and prompts that match a task. Returns names and one-line descriptions. |
| `get_skill` | Load the full `SKILL.md` instructions for one skill, by exact name. |
| `get_skill_file` | Load one supporting file (e.g. `references/env-vars.md`) from a skill folder. |
| `list_skills` | List all skills (name, category, description), optionally filtered by category. |
| `list_categories` | List skill categories with counts. |

## Install

### Cursor

[Add to Cursor](https://cursor.com/install-mcp?name=theskillvault&config=eyJ1cmwiOiJodHRwczovL3RoZXNraWxsdmF1bHQuYWkvbWNwIn0%3D)

Deeplink: `cursor://anysphere.cursor-deeplink/mcp/install?name=theskillvault&config=eyJ1cmwiOiJodHRwczovL3RoZXNraWxsdmF1bHQuYWkvbWNwIn0=`

Or add to `~/.cursor/mcp.json` (or `.cursor/mcp.json` in a project):

```json
{ "mcpServers": { "theskillvault": { "url": "https://theskillvault.ai/mcp" } } }
```

### VS Code (GitHub Copilot)

[Install in VS Code](https://insiders.vscode.dev/redirect/mcp/install?name=theskillvault&config=%7B%22type%22%3A%22http%22%2C%22url%22%3A%22https%3A%2F%2Ftheskillvault.ai%2Fmcp%22%7D)

- Direct link: `vscode:mcp/install?%7B%22name%22%3A%22theskillvault%22%2C%22type%22%3A%22http%22%2C%22url%22%3A%22https%3A%2F%2Ftheskillvault.ai%2Fmcp%22%7D`
- Insiders: `vscode-insiders:mcp/install?%7B%22name%22%3A%22theskillvault%22%2C%22type%22%3A%22http%22%2C%22url%22%3A%22https%3A%2F%2Ftheskillvault.ai%2Fmcp%22%7D`
- CLI: `code --add-mcp '{"name":"theskillvault","type":"http","url":"https://theskillvault.ai/mcp"}'`

Or in `.vscode/mcp.json`:

```json
{ "servers": { "theskillvault": { "type": "http", "url": "https://theskillvault.ai/mcp" } } }
```

### Claude (claude.ai / Claude Desktop)

[Add to Claude](https://claude.ai/customize/connectors?modal=add-custom-connector&connectorName=TheSkillVault&connectorUrl=https%3A%2F%2Ftheskillvault.ai%2Fmcp)

Or: Customize → Connectors → **+** → Add custom connector → URL `https://theskillvault.ai/mcp`.

Claude Code:

```bash
claude mcp add --transport http theskillvault https://theskillvault.ai/mcp
```

### Google Antigravity

Add to `~/.gemini/config/mcp_config.json` (or via MCP Servers → Manage → View raw config):

```json
{ "mcpServers": { "theskillvault": { "serverUrl": "https://theskillvault.ai/mcp" } } }
```

CLI: `agy mcp add theskillvault https://theskillvault.ai/mcp`

### Windsurf / Devin Desktop

Customize → MCPs → Add custom MCP → transport **HTTP**, URL `https://theskillvault.ai/mcp`, auth none.

Or in `~/.config/devin/config.json` (or `.devin/config.json` in a project). Legacy Windsurf uses `~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json`:

```json
{ "mcpServers": { "theskillvault": { "serverUrl": "https://theskillvault.ai/mcp" } } }
```

### Any other MCP client

Point a Streamable HTTP client at `https://theskillvault.ai/mcp`. No API key needed.
