Instructions
Guidance the server publishes about itself, which clients place ahead of the tool catalog so the model reads it before choosing anything.
Simvito sells prepaid travel eSIM data plans. Search and compare here; the user buys on simvito.com and installs the eSIM in a few minutes. On every call pass locale in the language of the conversation and currency for the user's country, so names, prices and links match. Use en and USD only when you can't tell. Checkout is in 20 languages and 25 currencies, with cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal and local wallets; get_checkout_options lists what applies to a country or currency. Usual flow: find_destination if the place is unclear, search_plans for the destination and trip length. When the user decides to buy, call start_checkout if their Simvito account is connected: it returns payment links (card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, local wallets; PayPal) to give them exactly as returned. If the account isn't connected, use get_buy_link (or offer to connect the account first). start_checkout may first return required confirmations: show each text to the user word for word and pass its code in confirmations only after the user agrees. After the user pays, call get_order_status with the checkout_id to see when the eSIM is ready. Keep the purchase moving. End each reply with one concrete next step the user can take (pick one of these plans, pay with this link, check the phone supports eSIM, install). When the user picks a plan or agrees (e.g. 'this one', 'OK, the second option'), don't ask again: in the same reply call start_checkout (account connected) or get_buy_link and give the link. After a side question (data usage, installing, refunds), answer it, then bring the user back to the open choice. When you recommend a plan, name the local operators it uses with 4G/5G, and say what happens when the data runs out (stops, or slows to a stated speed). compare_networks puts every operator at a destination side by side. Leave out anything the tools don't return. For a trip through several countries use plan_trip, and prefer one regional plan that covers the whole trip when it costs about the same or less. When it costs more, plan_trip says how much: give both prices and let the user choose. Separate plans can be bought in one start_checkout, paid once (get_buy_link still means one checkout per plan). If the phone was bought in mainland China, Hong Kong or Macao, call check_device first with purchase_region: many of those models have no eSIM. Go by its verdict; when it is no_esim, say so plainly and don't sell a plan for that phone. If a result says a place was read as something else (matched_from), make sure it is where the user is going before recommending plans. Prices here are the card price. Checkout shows the final price before payment; some local payment methods cost less. Don't sell a new eSIM when the user wants more data on one they already have. Data is added on simvito.com: give that eSIM's manage_url from list_my_esims, or the account page (https://simvito.com/account/, with the language prefix such as /ja/account/) if their account isn't connected. An eSIM that was never installed can be refunded within 30 days of purchase: https://simvito.com/refund/ list_my_esims, start_checkout and get_order_status need the user's Simvito account connected. They never return install codes or QR codes.

Tools
Functions exposed to the LLM to take actions
| Name | Description |
|---|---|
| find_destinationA | Find where a trip goes: a country, a region such as 'Europe' or 'Asia', or a multi-country plan, by name in any language, ISO code or misspelling (many cities and islands such as 'Tokyo' or 'Bali' work too). Returns destination slugs for the other tools; no prices. |
| search_plansA | Find travel eSIM data plans for one destination and trip length, e.g. 'eSIM for Japan, 7 days' or '10 GB for Thailand'. Up to 5 plans with price in the user's currency, data, validity, the local operators each plan uses with 4G/5G, what happens when the data runs out, hotspot and top-up support, and a link to each plan. |
| compare_networksA | Compare the local mobile networks for a destination side by side, for questions like 'which network is best in Thailand' or 'which eSIM has 5G in Tokyo': each operator the plans use, its best generation (4G/5G), how many plans use it and the cheapest one. For a multi-country plan, pass country to see that country's operators. |
| plan_tripA | For a trip through several countries (e.g. Japan 7 days, then Korea 5 days), compare one regional plan that covers every stop with a separate plan for each country, using the cheapest plans that cover each stop's days at the daily data need. |
| check_deviceA | Check whether a phone supports eSIM, e.g. 'does my iPhone 13 support eSIM?'. Covers iPhone, Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy from the manufacturers' official lists, including the exceptions for phones bought in mainland China, Hong Kong or Macao. Gives a verdict (supports_esim / no_esim); pass purchase_region when the user says where the phone was bought. |
| get_buy_linkA | Get the simvito.com checkout link for a plan from search_plans or plan_trip, with the price in the user's currency (total for the quantity) and the payment methods for that currency. The user signs in and pays on simvito.com; nothing is charged here. |
| list_my_esimsA | List the eSIMs in the user's connected Simvito account: destination, plan, status, whether installed, data left and expiry, with a link to manage each one (install, add data) on simvito.com. Requires connecting a Simvito account. Never returns installation codes. |
| get_checkout_optionsA | Languages, currencies and payment methods at simvito.com checkout. Pass the buyer's country or currency to get the default currency there and the payment methods that currency can be paid with (cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, local wallets and bank payments). |
| start_checkoutA | When the user decides to buy and their Simvito account is connected: places the order on their account and returns two payment links to give them exactly as returned, a secure payment page for cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and local wallets, and PayPal (when available for this order), with the total, any discount and an order number. Nothing is charged until the user pays on one of those pages. Pass items for up to 5 different plans from search_plans or plan_trip (up to 10 eSIMs in all), or plan_id and quantity for one plan. If the account isn't connected, use get_buy_link instead. |
| get_order_statusA | After the user pays through start_checkout's links (e.g. they say 'paid' or 'is my eSIM ready?'): shows whether the payment arrived and the eSIM is ready, waiting up to about 25 seconds for it, with the eSIM, a link to install and manage it, and the Simvito app. Never returns installation codes. |

TDQS
Scored across 10 tools
Each tool targets a distinct step or resource in the eSIM journey: destination lookup, plan search, network comparison, device compatibility, trip planning, checkout options, buying, order status, and account eSIM listing. The potentially overlapping checkout tools are explicitly separated by whether a Simvito account is connected, which removes ambiguity.
All tool names use a consistent snake_case verb_noun pattern: find_destination, search_plans, compare_networks, start_checkout, get_order_status, plan_trip, check_device, get_buy_link, list_my_esims, get_checkout_options. Minor variation like list_my_esims still fits the same convention and remains predictable.
Ten tools is well-scoped for a travel eSIM purchase assistant. Each tool covers a meaningful part of the discovery-to-purchase-to-eSIM-access workflow without obvious redundancy.
The surface covers destination search, plan comparison, device checks, checkout, payment link generation, order status, and listing owned eSIMs. Minor gaps remain around post-purchase lifecycle actions such as top-up, cancellation/refund, or direct eSIM management beyond links to simvito.com.
