Quote clip job cost

quote_clip_job
Read-onlyIdempotent

Estimate the credit cost of a clip or recut job before creating it, and check that the video can be downloaded. Free, read-only price check.

Instructions

Calculates the credit cost of create_clip_job or recut_clip_job without spending anything, and checks that MnogoReels can download the video. Free and read-only.

Price: 1 credit per started minute of the processed range (end_sec minus start_sec), minimum 1. Options such as caption style, hooks, B-roll or music do not change the price. One job processes at most 30 minutes; for longer videos quote several ranges with start_sec and end_sec. Without start_sec and end_sec the whole video is priced, so its length must be known; this tool looks it up.

Pass source_url to price a new video, or job_id to price a recut of an existing clip job. A recut without start_sec and end_sec reuses the original job's range, which the API does not reveal; the quote is then an upper bound (the whole source video) and credits_exact is false. Show the credits to the user and get their agreement before calling create_clip_job or recut_clip_job with max_credits of at least this amount.

Returns credits, credits_exact, billed_seconds, the resolved start_sec and end_sec, the platform, whether the video can be downloaded, the source title and length, and a note about failed jobs. If the length cannot be determined (typical for direct file links), the error explains how to pass end_sec yourself.

Input Schema

TableJSON Schema
NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
job_idNoExisting clip job to price a recut for. Give either source_url or job_id.
end_secNoEnd of the part to process, in seconds. Default: the end of the video (its length is looked up automatically when the platform reports it). At most 30 minutes after start_sec.
start_secNoStart of the part to process, in seconds from the beginning. Default 0.
source_urlNoPublic link to the video: YouTube, VK Video, RuTube, Dzen, Twitch, Yandex Disk file, Google Drive file, or a direct .mp4/.mov/.mkv/.webm link. Local files are not supported.

Output Schema

TableJSON Schema
NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
noteYesJobs cannot be cancelled. If processing fails, credits are not returned automatically; retry_clip_job re-runs a failed job for free, or contact support@mnogo-reels.ru with the job_id.
job_idYesThe clip job this recut quote is for; null for a new video.
creditsYesCredits that create_clip_job or recut_clip_job will charge for this range (an upper bound when credits_exact is false).
end_secYes
platformYes
start_secYesnull = the original job's range is reused (recut).
source_urlYes
downloadableYesnull when the check could not run right now (the range was given, so the price is still exact).
pricing_ruleYes1 credit per started minute of the range, minimum 1; at most 30 minutes per job.
source_titleYesWrapped in <untrusted_source_text>.
credits_exactYesFalse only for a recut that reuses the original range: the charge is at most credits.
billed_secondsYesLength of the billed range; null when a recut reuses the original range.
source_duration_secYes

A4.8/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations cover the read-only/idempotent/no-destructive profile, but the description adds substantial behavioral context beyond them: the pricing formula (1 credit per started minute, minimum 1), that options like caption style/hooks/B-roll do not affect price, the 30-minute job cap, and the upper-bound case where credits_exact is false because the API does not reveal a recut's original range.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loaded with the key value proposition ('without spending anything', 'Free and read-only') and organized into pricing/usage/return paragraphs. It is dense and slightly long, with a few return-value details that partly overlap the output schema, but almost every sentence carries actionable information.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a pre-flight quoting tool this is complete: it covers when to use it, the cost model, the interaction between job_id and the range parameters, the credit-exactness caveat, and the failure mode for unmeasurable direct links. The output schema exists, so return-value enumeration is a minor redundancy rather than a gap.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is 100%, so the baseline is 3, but the description genuinely extends semantic meaning: it explains that a recut without start_sec/end_sec reuses the original job's range and yields an upper-bound quote, that omitting both defaults to the whole video (requiring a length lookup), and that the 30-minute cap forces splitting long videos.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb+resource ('Calculates the credit cost') and explicitly names the sibling operations it prices (create_clip_job, recut_clip_job) while distinguishing itself as a no-cost simulation. An agent can tell this apart from create_clip_job/recut_clip_job without opening either schema.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines5/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Gives explicit routing: pass source_url to price a new video, job_id to price a recut, and states the prerequisite workflow ('Show the credits to the user and get their agreement before calling create_clip_job or recut_clip_job with max_credits of at least this amount'). It also notes a fallback when the length cannot be determined.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
