Describes the environment variables required to run the server.

| DEEPSEEK_API_KEY | Yes | Your DeepSeek API Key. Required for real network search and fetch. Can also be set in the local config file (~/.deepseek-web/config.json), but the environment variable takes precedence. | |
| DEEPSEEK_BASE_URL | No | Root address or /v1 address of a trusted DeepSeek API service. Must be HTTPS for non-localhost. Defaults to https://api.deepseek.com. The API key is sent to this address, so only configure trusted services. |
