MCP Guarded GitHub Tools
Server Configuration
Describes the environment variables required to run the server.
| Name | Required | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|---|
| GITHUB_TOKEN | No | A fine-grained GitHub personal access token, read from the environment only. Leave it out entirely for read-only use on public repos (60 requests an hour). | |
| MCP_GUARD_CONFIG | No | Path to a small JSON config file (e.g. examples/config.example.json) containing commentAllowlist, maxCommentLength, dryRun, auditLogPath and apiBaseUrl. With no config the server can read and nothing else (empty allowlist). | |
| MCP_GUARD_DRY_RUN | No | Set to false to turn off dry-run mode (default is true). | |
| MCP_GUARD_AUDIT_LOG | No | Path to the audit log (default is ./audit.jsonl). |
