Server Configuration

Describes the environment variables required to run the server.

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
MCP_DATA_DIRNoThe root data directory the server operates in and grants filesystem tools access to. Defaults to your home directory ($HOME, or %USERPROFILE% on Windows). Change it at start with MCP_DATA_DIR=/other/path npm start (or set MCP_DATA_DIR=D:\work then npm start on Windows cmd).
PUBLIC_ORIGINNoOptional public origin for the server. Only needed if you require PUBLIC_ORIGIN or another non-default var; set it in .env (cp .env.example .env).
GROK_CALLBACK_PREFIXNoAllowlisted prefix for Grok's OAuth redirect_uri (e.g. https://grok.com/connectors-oauth-exchange-code/). If a future Grok change moves that callback, the new value must be re-allowlisted via GROK_CALLBACK_PREFIX.
