Server Configuration
Describes the environment variables required to run the server.

| BEDROCK_MODEL | No | The Bedrock model id to use, e.g. anthropic.claude-opus-5-5 (Messages API) or openai.gpt-5.6-terra (Responses API). | |
| DEMO_PASSCODE | No | Optional passcode guarding the simulator and starting the household over. | |
| GREENHOUSE_KEY | No | The greenhouse controller's X-Api-Key. Local only, never deployed. | |
| GREENHOUSE_URL | No | The greenhouse controller's address (IP, greenhouse.local or a full URL). Local only, never deployed. | |
| MODEL_PROVIDER | No | Picks the model provider: `bedrock` or `anthropic`. Unset, it's whichever has a key, Bedrock first. | |
| BEDROCK_API_KEY | No | Your Amazon Bedrock API key, used through its bedrock-mantle endpoint. Used when MODEL_PROVIDER is bedrock (or unset with a key present, Bedrock taking priority). | |
| ANTHROPIC_API_KEY | No | Your Claude API key for the simulator's model (claude-opus-5-5). Used when MODEL_PROVIDER is anthropic (or unset with no Bedrock key). | |
| AWS_ACCESS_KEY_ID | No | Access key id for the IAM user whose only permission is polly:SynthesizeSpeech, for Amazon Polly voice. Without it the browser's own voice is used. | |
| ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL | No | Optional URL of any gateway that speaks the Claude API wire format, instead of the default Anthropic endpoint. | |
| ALEXA_CLIENT_SECRET | No | Alexa's OAuth client secret, for configuring account linking. | |
| GREENHOUSE_MAX_RUN_S | No | The longest run the bridge allows (default 600; never past the firmware's 1800). | |
