Server Configuration

Describes the environment variables required to run the server.

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
GROQ_API_KEYNoProvider API key. Several providers (Pollinations, OVHcloud, Kilo Gateway, and LLM7) need no API key, so the server can start without credentials when an enabled keyless route is available; adding keys for other providers unlocks more models and higher limits. Docker example passes it with --env GROQ_API_KEY.
FREELLMPOOL_MODENoSet to "wise" for the conservative quota mode: ask defaults to a smaller output budget and spread routing, tokenmax narrows its default fan-out, and broad multi-model calls require confirmation unless --yes is passed. Per-command --mode normal|wise overrides this, and [settings] mode = "wise" works from config.toml.
FREELLMPOOL_ROUTINGNoSet to "fast" to prefer the lowest-latency provider instead of the default least-used-first routing.
FREELLMPOOL_PROXY_KEYNoSets the proxy bearer token. On loopback, any placeholder API key works unless this is configured or --api-key is passed; Tailnet/LAN serving requires a real proxy bearer token by default. Set this if you deliberately expose the published port.
FREELLMPOOL_PUBLIC_BADGENoSet to 1 to let the proxy serve /badge.svg and /summary.svg live, making public badges embeddable.
