Server Configuration
Describes the environment variables required to run the server.

| PROJECT_LENS_PATH | No | The workspace root directory to scan. Can also be provided as a positional CLI argument or via the 'roots' field in the config file. If not set via any method, the server exits with an error. | |
| PROJECTS_MCP_CONFIG | No | Path to the optional configuration file. Defaults to $XDG_CONFIG_HOME/projects-mcp/config.json or ~/.config/projects-mcp/config.json. | |
| PROJECT_LENS_ALLOW_WRITES | No | Set to '1', 'true', 'yes', or 'on' to enable the write_file and scaffold_project tools. Defaults to false. |
