Server Configuration
Describes the environment variables required to run the server.
| Name | Required | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|---|
| SLICER | No | Slicer to use: `creality`, `orca` or `bambu`. | creality |
| SLICER_CONFIG_DIR | No | Folder that contains `user/` and `system/`. Use it for portable installs or to pin a Creality Print version (e.g. `…\Creality Print\7.3`). | auto |
| CREALITY_PRINT_MCP_BACKUP_DIR | No | Where preset backups go. | ~/.creality-print-mcp/backups/<slicer> |
Instructions
Guidance the server publishes about itself, which clients place ahead of the tool catalog so the model reads it before choosing anything.

Tools
Functions exposed to the LLM to take actions
| Name | Description |
|---|---|
| list_profilesA | List the user's slicer presets (process, filament and machine), each with the preset it inherits from. |
| get_profileA | Get a preset's settings. With resolve_inheritance=true (default) returns the EFFECTIVE values, merging the 'inherits' chain up to the vendor preset; with false returns only what the user overrode. |
| audit_profileA | Audit a process preset's EFFECTIVE values (inheritance resolved) for common causes of failures: nozzle hitting crossing infill, supports fusing to or scarring the part, wall bulges, rough supported surfaces. |
| set_profile_parameterA | Set one setting in a user preset. A backup is taken first (see list_backups / restore_backup). List-shaped fields (e.g. outer_wall_speed) stay lists. Keys that exist neither in the preset nor in its parents are refused as probable typos unless force=true. Identity keys (name, inherits...) are refused. |
| list_backupsA | List backups of a preset taken by set_profile_parameter / restore_backup, newest first. |
| restore_backupA | Restore a preset from a backup file name returned by list_backups. The current state is backed up first. |
| get_model_dimensionsA | Load a 3D model (.stl, .obj, .3mf) and return its size in mm (X, Y, Z), volume, watertightness and face count. |
| scale_modelA | Scale a 3D model uniformly into a new file. Pass exactly one of: percent (80 = 80%), factor (0.8 = 80%) or target_height_mm (desired Z height). |
| rotate_modelA | Rotate a 3D model into a new file, in degrees around X, then Y, then Z, to improve bed contact and reduce overhangs/supports. |

TDQS
Scored across 9 tools
Each tool targets a distinct resource+action: profile reads (get/list/audit), a single targeted write (set_profile_parameter), backup management (list/restore), and model operations (dimensions/scale/rotate). The only near-pair, get_profile vs audit_profile, is clearly separated by audit being a failure-mode analysis over effective values. No plausible misselection paths.
Every name follows a strict verb_noun snake_case pattern (get_profile, set_profile_parameter, list_backups, restore_backup, scale_model, rotate_model). Nouns group by domain (profile/backup/model), which reinforces the structure rather than breaking it.
Nine tools is well within the sweet spot and every tool earns its place: four profile tools, two backup tools, three model tools. No filler or redundant convenience wrappers.
The surface covers read/audit/edit of presets, full backup+restore lifecycle, and model inspect/scale/rotate, with no dead ends in the edit path. Gaps are moderate rather than severe: there is no create_profile, delete_profile, or rename, and no model translation/export, so new presets must be born in the slicer before the agent can tune them.
