Repository Manager

Repository Ingest Repositories

repository_ingest_repositories

Enumerate GitLab groups or GitHub orgs and ingest their git repositories into epistemic-graph as typed :GitRepository nodes for source provenance.

Instructions

Natively ingest git repositories into epistemic-graph as typed :GitRepository nodes.

Enumerates repositories across a GitLab instance / GitHub org via the real VCS enumerator and pushes them (typed :GitRepository nodes with vcs/clone_url/web_url/ default_branch provenance) into the knowledge graph via the fast engine client. Best-effort: returns {"ingested": None} when no engine is reachable. CONCEPT:AU-KG.ingest.enterprise-source-extractor.

Input Schema

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
vcsNoWhich VCS to enumerate: 'gitlab' or 'github'.gitlab
scopesNoComma-separated GitLab groups / GitHub orgs to enumerate. Omit for the whole instance / the authenticated user.
max_reposNoOptional cap on the number of repositories enumerated + ingested.

Output Schema

TDQS

A3.7/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

With no annotations, the description carries the full burden and does well: it discloses the best-effort contract and the exact degraded return ({"ingested": None} when no engine is reachable), names the mechanisms used (real VCS enumerator, fast engine client), and lists provenance attributes written. It omits auth/token prerequisites for the GitLab/GitHub side and any rate-limit or scale caveats.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

The purpose is front-loaded in the first clause, and the following sentences add distinct value (mechanism, provenance, failure mode). The trailing CONCEPT:AU-KG... tag is opaque noise, but the rest is tight and well-ordered.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

An output schema exists, so return values need no elaboration, yet the description helpfully flags the None-ingested edge case. With 0 required params and full schema coverage, the only meaningful gap is the absence of authentication prerequisites for reaching GitLab/GitHub.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100%, so the schema already documents vcs, scopes, and max_repos fully. The description's mentions of GitLab instance / GitHub org and enumeration cap align with but do not extend beyond the schema, so the baseline 3 is appropriate.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb and resource: 'ingest git repositories into epistemic-graph as typed :GitRepository nodes,' with detail on enumeration source and provenance fields. It implicitly distinguishes itself from pure enumeration siblings (rm_git_enumerate) by emphasizing ingestion into the knowledge graph, though it never names an alternative directly.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines3/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Usage is implied by the described pipeline (enumerate across a GitLab instance / GitHub org, then push into the graph), so an agent can infer the scenario. However, there is no explicit when-to-use or when-not guidance versus close siblings like rm_git_enumerate or repository_manager_discover_projects, leaving the agent to guess which enumeration tool applies.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
