Server Configuration
Describes the environment variables required to run the server.

| HANDOFFHOME_HOST | No | Host interface for the server to bind to. The server binds to loopback by default. | |
| HANDOFFHOME_PORT | No | Port for the server to listen on. The demo serves web and MCP on port 8787 by default. | |
| HANDOFFHOME_CLOCK | No | Clock mode for the fixture. Valid values are fixed or real. The default fixture clock is fixed. | |
| HANDOFFHOME_DEMO_TOOLS | No | Set to 1 to enable the demo-only reset_demo_household tool. Disabled unless explicitly enabled. | |
| HANDOFFHOME_STATE_FILE | No | Path to the durable JSON state file. Ordinary server starts load data/state.json by default. | |
| HANDOFFHOME_ALLOW_REMOTE | No | Explicit override required for remote binding. Remote binding does not add authentication and is not supported for public deployment. | |
| HANDOFFHOME_ALLOWED_ORIGINS | No | Comma-separated list of allowed browser origins. The default allowlist is localhost/127.0.0.1 on ports 8787 and 5173. |
