Kindred

Alexa+ household copilot for families who do not share the same clock.

Kindred is a working Alexa+ experience for the Build, Ship, Shape: Amazon Developer Hackathon. It is a self-hosted MCP server on Streamable HTTP, spec 2025-11-25, plus a living-room Show simulator that is a real MCP client — it sends initialize, tools/list, and tools/call. That is the simulated Alexa+ path Amazon documents for this hackathon.

Why it exists

Ama is a nurse on nights. Jean works from the kitchen table. Maya and Eli are on school time. When Ama is asleep at noon, the house is still loud: doorbell, TV, lunch, pickup logistics. Group chats do not hold a doorbell. Calendars do not tell a twelve-year-old to keep the hallway quiet.

Kindred puts one now on the living-room display:

  • Quiet hours that hold the door and send nudges to phones, not the speaker

  • School run, meals, and chores on the same surface

  • A wake briefing for the person who just got home — dinner, open work, and whether they still overlap with the kids
