Server Configuration
Describes the environment variables required to run the server.

| MCP_DATA_DIR | No | The allowed root folder for the filesystem tools. Defaults to your home directory (`$HOME`, or `%USERPROFILE%` on Windows). Change it from the start with `MCP_DATA_DIR=/other/path npm start` (or `set MCP_DATA_DIR=D:\work` then `npm start` on Windows cmd). | |
| PUBLIC_ORIGIN | No | Optional public origin used when you are not using Tailscale Funnel but your own owned public origin. Only needed if you require a non-default ingress: `cp .env.example .env # optional: only if you need PUBLIC_ORIGIN or another non-default var`. | |
| GROK_CALLBACK_PREFIX | No | Allowlisted prefix for Grok's OAuth redirect_uri (e.g. `https://grok.com/connectors-oauth-exchange-code/`). If a future Grok change moves that callback, a rejected registration logs `register REJECTED (redirect_uri not allowlisted)` so the new value can be re-allowlisted. |
