qrtap_create_short_link

Create a permanent short link that redirects to your destination URL, with retargetable destination and scan counting. Use it when the user asks for a link only, not a printed QR code.

Instructions

Create a short link (https://app.qrtap.kg/) when the user asks for a LINK rather than a printed code. It is the same managed object as a QR code and hits the same endpoint as qrtap_create_code — the reply's short_url is permanent, the destination is retargetable, scans are counted. Pick this one only when the user wants nothing but a link; if they need a label, a group, an external_ref or a batch, use qrtap_create_code / qrtap_create_codes_bulk, which take those fields.

A4.7/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

With no annotations, the description carries the disclosure burden and does well: it states the object is the same managed entity as a QR code, hits the same endpoint, that short_url is permanent, the destination is retargetable, and scans are counted. It does not cover auth requirements or rate limits, but the core behavioral model and mutability semantics are clear.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Three dense sentences, front-loaded with the action and URL format, then the differentiator, then the routing rule. No filler and each sentence carries a distinct decision or behavioral fact.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a one-parameter tool with no output schema, the description covers the return value (short_url, permanent), the object's lifecycle (retargetable), tracking (scans counted), and when to pick a sibling instead. Nothing an agent needs to select or call this correctly is missing.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is 100% for the single url parameter, so baseline is 3, but the description adds real meaning by noting the destination is retargetable later — telling the agent the url is changeable after creation rather than fixed. That is semantics the schema does not convey.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb and resource (create a short link) and even shows the URL shape 'https://app.qrtap.kg/<slug>'. It explicitly distinguishes itself from qrtap_create_code and qrtap_create_codes_bulk by explaining it is the link-only variant of the same object.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines5/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Gives an explicit trigger ('when the user asks for a LINK rather than a printed code') and an explicit exclusion list ('if they need a label, a group, an external_ref or a batch'). It names the exact alternative tools to use in those cases, leaving nothing to inference.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
