Server Configuration

Describes the environment variables required to run the server.

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
FCP_MCP_INDEXNoSet to "off" to disable the analysis cache. Nothing depends on the index; every tool still answers, only slower.
FCP_WATCH_DIRNoDirectory to watch for the operator's Cmd-E export, so the round-trip can be closed without calling watch_start once per session.
FCP_MCP_AUTOPUSHNoSet to 1 to automatically push generated FCPXML into a running Final Cut Pro with zero clicks instead of using deliver.push_to_fcp manually.
FCP_PROJECTS_DIRYesDirectory containing your Final Cut Pro XML project files, e.g. /Users/you/Movies. Configured in your MCP client, e.g. "claude mcp add fcpxml -e FCP_PROJECTS_DIR=~/Movies -- uvx fcp-mcp-server".
