Server Configuration
Describes the environment variables required to run the server.

| BACKEND_TYPE | No | Set to "valkey" to use a Valkey backend instead of Redis. | |
| RECALL_API_KEY | No | Your Recall Cloud API key (starts with sk-recall-), used as a Bearer token in the Authorization header for the managed SaaS at https://recallmcp.com/mcp. | |
| WORKSPACE_MODE | No | Optional workspace mode, e.g. "hybrid" or "global" to enable global memories. | |
| ANTHROPIC_API_KEY | No | Optional Anthropic API key used for embeddings. |
