Server Configuration

Describes the environment variables required to run the server.

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
JEV_MODELNoOverrides the model. Ignored when the OpenRouter key is used.
JEV_API_URLNoOverrides the TypeSafe endpoint. Ignored when the OpenRouter key is used.
JEV_BROWSERNoRuns your own browser instead of Playwright's Chromium: chrome, chrome-beta, msedge, or the path to any Chromium-based browser's executable, such as Brave.
JEV_BROWSER_LOGNoSet to 1 to print per-round decisions to stderr.
TYPESAFE_API_KEYNoYour TypeSafe API key, used to call the TypeSafe System One API (Jev). Required unless OPENROUTER_API_KEY is set. When both keys are set, TYPESAFE_API_KEY wins, whether each comes from the environment or .env. Never read from the .env of the directory the server was started in.
JEV_BROWSER_HEADEDNoSet to 1 to show the browser window (also enables action highlighting).
OPENROUTER_API_KEYNoAn OpenRouter API key, passed instead of TYPESAFE_API_KEY when you have no TypeSafe account; calls are then billed to your OpenRouter account.
JEV_BROWSER_PROFILENoA directory for a persistent browser profile, so logins survive restarts. Use a dedicated directory, since Chrome won't be automated with your everyday profile.
JEV_BROWSER_NO_INSTALLNoSet to 1 to turn off the one-time Chromium download on first use.
