Server Configuration

Describes the environment variables required to run the server.

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
FCP_MCP_INDEXNoSet to "off" to disable the analysis cache. Nothing depends on the cache; every tool still answers, only slower.on
FCP_WATCH_DIRNoDirectory watched for the operator's Cmd-E export so `watch_pull` can detect and diff it against the last export. Can be set once per session instead of calling `watch_start`.
FCP_MCP_AUTOPUSHNoSet to 1 to have generated timelines pushed into a running Final Cut Pro automatically, instead of calling `deliver.push_to_fcp` explicitly.
FCP_PROJECTS_DIRYesDirectory containing your Final Cut Pro XML projects (e.g. ~/Movies). Pointed at your projects folder when adding the server: `claude mcp add fcpxml -e FCP_PROJECTS_DIR=~/Movies -- uvx fcp-mcp-server`.
