Server Configuration
Describes the environment variables required to run the server.
| Name | Required | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|---|
| CHARLOTTE_NO_SANDBOX | No | Set to 1 to disable the Chromium sandbox (equivalent to the --no-sandbox flag or "browser": { "noSandbox": true } in the config file). Containers and bare-metal root runs usually cannot set up the kernel sandbox, so this must be set explicitly in those environments. The Chromium sandbox is enabled by default. | |
| CHARLOTTE_OUTPUT_DIR | No | Directory where Charlotte writes output artifacts (equivalent to the "output": { "dir": ... } config key, e.g. ./charlotte-output). | |
| CHARLOTTE_INIT_SCRIPT | No | Path to a script that runs on every new document before page JavaScript (equivalent to browser.initScripts in the config file or --init-script <path>). | |
| CHARLOTTE_CDP_ENDPOINT | No | CDP endpoint used to connect to an existing Chromium instance instead of launching a new browser. |
