Server Configuration

Describes the environment variables required to run the server.

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
GROQ_API_KEYNoExample provider API key (e.g. Groq). Add keys for other providers to unlock more models and higher limits. Optional: freellmpool can start credential-free when an enabled keyless route (Pollinations, OVHcloud, Kilo Gateway, LLM7) is available.
FREELLMPOOL_MODENoRouting mode. Set to 'wise' for conservative quota mode: ask defaults to a smaller output budget and spread routing, tokenmax narrows its fan-out, and broad multi-model calls require confirmation.normal
FREELLMPOOL_ROUTINGNoRouting strategy. Set to 'fast' to prefer the lowest-latency provider instead of the default least-used-first selection.
FREELLMPOOL_PROXY_KEYNoBearer token required from clients when the proxy is deliberately exposed on a non-loopback interface; on loopback any placeholder key works unless this is set.
FREELLMPOOL_PUBLIC_BADGENoSet to 1 to make the proxy serve publicly embeddable live badges at /badge.svg and /summary.svg.
