Server Configuration
Describes the environment variables required to run the server.
| Name | Required | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|---|
| CUEFLOW_TTS | No | Chooses the text-to-speech voice used to synthesise narration: `openai` (default when OPENAI_API_KEY is set), `say` (macOS voices, offline), `command` (any local program via CUEFLOW_TTS_COMMAND) or `none` (silent). Without a voice the guide is silent (captions only, timings estimated). | |
| OPENAI_API_KEY | No | OpenAI API key. When set, CUEFLOW_TTS defaults to `openai` (OpenAI speech, mp3). Narration is sent to the configured TTS provider when audio generation is enabled. | |
| CUEFLOW_CHROMIUM | No | Path to a Chromium or Chrome executable already installed on the machine, used instead of Playwright's browser for capture, preview, validate --layout, site --posters and preview_frame. | |
| CUEFLOW_TTS_MODEL | No | OpenAI speech model used when CUEFLOW_TTS=openai. | |
| CUEFLOW_TTS_VOICE | No | Voice to use: the OpenAI voice when CUEFLOW_TTS=openai, or the macOS voice when CUEFLOW_TTS=say (otherwise the first one installed for the guide's language is used). | |
| CUEFLOW_TTS_FORMAT | No | Output audio format for CUEFLOW_TTS=command: mp3, m4a, wav or ogg (default wav). | wav |
| CUEFLOW_TTS_COMMAND | No | Local TTS program to run when CUEFLOW_TTS=command, with `{text}` (a file with the text), `{out}`, `{lang}` and `{voice}` placeholders. Example (Piper): `piper --model it_IT-paola-medium.onnx --output_file {out} < {text}` |
