Server Configuration
Describes the environment variables required to run the server.

| MCP_DATA_DIR | No | The default allowed root folder for the filesystem tools. Defaults to your home directory ($HOME, or %USERPROFILE% on Windows). Change it from the start with `MCP_DATA_DIR=/other/path npm start` (or `set MCP_DATA_DIR=D:\work` then `npm start` on Windows cmd). | |
| PUBLIC_ORIGIN | No | Optional non-default variable set in .env; only needed if you require a public origin (e.g. when using an owned public origin or hosted domain ingress instead of Tailscale Funnel). | |
| GROK_CALLBACK_PREFIX | No | Allowlisted prefix for Grok's OAuth redirect_uri (observed live as https://grok.com/connectors-oauth-exchange-code/). If Grok changes its callback, a rejected registration logs the new redirect_uri so it can be re-allowlisted via this variable. |
